Windows Media Player

Media Player is a little application whose popularity and capabilities have both been growing. Media Player's evolution has been spurred by the infiltration of streaming audio and video across the Web, as well as by the new MP3 craze as a distribution medium for CD-quality music distribution. The types of media files that can be played by Microsoft Windows Media Player are shown in Table 7.4. When you open a stored file that has one of the extensions listed in the following table, either by double-clicking a file icon or a link in a Web page, Media Player starts up and begins playing it.
