CD Player

The CD Player accessory has been given a facelift in Windows 2000 Professional. It's the same Deluxe CD Player you got with Windows 98 Plus! This time, though, it's supplied with the stock Windows product, so you don't need an add-in program to get the goodies. This CD Player application looks hip and has Internet functionality built in. It not only plays your CDs like most Windows-based CD players do, but it also can hit the Web to download all the artist, disc, and track information about a CD, storing it in a database in the computer. Next time you insert the CD, the player identifies the CD and can display the database listing for that CD, even if you're offline.

You can also create playlists of your favorite tunes. Playlists act like those intelligent CD players that remember which songs on a CD you hate. You can block them out so that, when you insert a CD, only your favorite tunes play in the order you want to hear them.
