Tips from the Windows Pros: Additional Security Measures

When speaking of security with your computer, you already know that I am a firm believer in locking things down. For example, when you try to log on to your computer, it automatically displays the username of the last person to log on. To me, because access to the computer is controlled by username and password, it seems silly to give people half of your combination. Also, I generally display a legal notice to all potential users that says "Do not attempt to log on unless you are an authorized user."

You can take care of both of these items in the same spot. To disable the username display, you must navigate to the Local Security Policy and change the Do Not Display Last User Name in Logon Screen option.
