Using Hardware Profiles

Tucked away within the Control Panel, you'll find the hardware profile settings option that lets you name and save hardware setups just as you can color or sound schemes. The idea of hardware profiles is that they let you start up the computer with different sets of devices to accommodate situations in which different hardware is attached to the machine. Hardware profiles also let you stipulate different settings (such as resource allocations) for each device. In essence, you can have almost a different computer with each hardware profile.

Note

Windows enables or disables devices by simply installing or not installing their drivers at boot time.
