Chapter 11. Internet and TCP/IP Connecti... > Adjusting Dial-Up Connection Propert...

Adjusting Dial-Up Connection Properties

As configured by the wizard, your dial-up connection is properly set up for most Internet service providers. It's unlikely that you would need to change any of these settings, but just in case, and because I know you're curious, I will walk you through the various settings and properties that are part of a dial-up connection. I'll explain dial-up connection properties in detail in Chapter 23, "Windows Unplugged: Remote and Mobile Networking."

You can view the connection properties by selecting Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up Connections. Right-click the icon for your dial-up connection (see Figure 11.9), and select Properties. You'll see five tabs, which I will run through in order. Few settings need to be changed for an ISP connection. I'll list a few here that you might want to check if you encounter problems dialing into your ISP.
