Chapter 11. Internet and TCP/IP Connecti... > Configuring a High-Speed Connection

Configuring a High-Speed Connection

If you're using an Ethernet network adapter to connect your Windows 2000 computer to a DSL or cable Internet service, the installer will probably set up your computer for you. If this doesn't happen, here's approximately what you will need to do. More specific instructions will have to come from your ISP.

  1. In the Internet Connection Wizard, select I Connect Through a Local Area Network (LAN), and click Next.

  2. Uncheck Automatic Discovery of a Proxy Server, and click Next.

  3. You can choose to set up your Internet mail account information at this time. Proceed through the wizard either way, until you select Finish.
