Chapter 4. Installing Windows 2000 > Making Replacement Startup Floppies

Making Replacement Startup Floppies

You don't need the startup floppies unless you can't boot up the machine from the hard disk or can't initiate Setup from your CD-ROM, hard disk, or across the network for some reason. If you do need them, and you've lost the ones that come with the CD or yours are damaged, you can make a fresh set.

Note

Although Setup startup disks contain different information than the Emergency Repair Disk, you can use an Emergency Repair Disk from Windows 95 OSR 2 or Windows 98 to boot up a system to gain CD-ROM support.
