Finding Computers on an NT Network

You can search for a network computer using the UNC by typing \\SERVER, where SERVER is the name of the computer you're looking for. This is particularly useful if the machine doesn't show up in the Network Neighborhood, but you're absolutely sure that it's on the network. Choose Find, Computer from the Start button; type the name of the computer for which you're looking in Named; and click Find Now. If Windows 95 finds the computer, you'll see it in the Find window as shown in Figure 40.2.
