Understanding Data Linking

A more sophisticated way to exchange data in Windows 95 is through the use of linking. Before the arrival of the OLE standard, DDE (dynamic data exchange) was the technology used to link data. Now OLE offers both linking and embedding. OLE allows you to create links from one document or file to another document or file. These links can be between documents that are created in the same application (such as Word) or documents that are created in different applications (such as Word and Excel).
