Sharing Drives over the Internet

On a client/server network with Windows NT servers, TCP/IP has become a very popular protocol, and is the default on Windows NT 4.0. Windows NT has features that overcome the protocol's primary administrative drawback: the need to assign unique IP addresses to every machine on the network. NT's dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) dynamically assigns addresses to network workstations. The Windows Internet naming service (WINS) maintains host tables for the rapidly changing network more efficiently than a traditional domain naming service (DNS).
