Installing Windows 95 on a New System or Hard Drive

Before you can install a fresh, clean copy of Windows 95, you must be able to boot to an MS-DOS prompt, and you must have a formatted hard disk. If you need instructions on how to create and format a partition, see Setting Up OSR2 from Scratch in the preceding section. Note that a startup disk created by the original release of Windows 95 supports FAT16 partitions only.
