Part VIII: Appendixes > Taking the Exam

Taking the Exam

You've mastered the required tasks to take the exam. When you have reviewed the exam objectives and are confident that you have the skills specified in the exam objectives, you are ready to perform at the highest cognitive level. It's time to head for the testing center. This appendix covers some tips and tricks to remember.

Before the Test

  • Wear comfortable clothing. You want to focus on the exam, not on a tight shirt collar or pinching pair of shoes.

  • Allow plenty of travel time. Get to the testing center 10 or 15 minutes early, as many testing centers are quite busy and expect you to start your exam promptly. Allow yourself time to relax.

  • If you've never been to the testing center before, make a trial run a few days before to make sure that you know the route to the center.

  • Carry with you at least two forms of identification, including one photo ID (such as a driver's license or company security ID). You will have to show proper identification before you can take the exam.
