Working with the Taskbar

One of the most useful parts of the Windows NT user interface is the askbar. Usually located at the bottom of the screen, the taskbar shows you all of the applications you have running at any time. These applications are represented by buttons on the taskbar, allowing you to quickly switch among them.

In addition to displaying the applications you have running, the taskbar also displays the clock. The clock panel is home to any special visual elements displayed by different applications. An example of this is the speaker symbol that appears next to the time when an audio device is running (see Figure 2.24).
