Working with Shortcuts

A shortcut is a special Windows NT element that points to another element, such as an application, document, or folder. When you select a shortcut, you are actually selecting the element that the shortcut points to. Shortcuts provide you withquick access to any folder, document, or application from anywhere in Windows NT, such as the Desktop or other folders. You can create as many shortcuts as you need, and you can create multiple shortcuts to the sameapplication. For example, you might create folders that contain shortcuts for the different projects you are currently working on. Each of the folders might contain a shortcut to your spreadsheet program because you use a spreadsheet when you work on each of the projects. Figure 2.42 shows the different types of shortcuts you can create.
