Chapter 22. Using Peer Web Services > Understanding Peer Web Services

Understanding Peer Web Services

Peer Web Services are designed to provide you with a way to share information on the Internet or intranet. While these provide many of the same features as stand-alone products, such as Internet Information Server (IIS), they are designed for much lower volume. Because of this, they are ideally suited for sharing information on a corporate intranet.

The information can be shared in any of three ways. First, you can create Web pages and share them using the Web service. Other users on the intranet can then access your Web site using any Web browser, such as Netscape's Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
