Chapter 31. Protecting Your Workstation > Updating the Emergency Repair Disk

Updating the Emergency Repair Disk

During the original setup of your Windows NT Workstation operating system, you had the opportunity to create an emergency repair disk. This is a repair disk that you can use if your system becomes corrupt, since it contains the Windows NT System files, the system configuration, and the startup environment of your installation process. If you didn't create an emergency repair disk during the installation of your operating system, you can do it now.

In addition to this disk, the same information is stored on your hard drive in the \WINWindows NT\REPAIR subdirectory. In fact, when you create a repair disk, it is the data in that subdirectory that is written to the disk.
