Chapter 3. Printing and Setting Up Print... > Managing Printer and Print Job Setti...

Managing Printer and Print Job Settings

After the print process is working, you should rarely have to change anything. If you do, you do so in the Printer Properties and Document Properties dialog boxes. You may have to update printer drivers, modify and remove printers, or manage the print queue or specific documents waiting in the queue. You can also manage remote printers and manage printer security if you have the appropriate rights.

Managing the Print Queue

There is a chance that you will send a print job to a printer by mistake. If it's a long print job, you will want to remove it from the queue so you don't tie up the printer and waste paper.Sometimes a printer will malfunction, and print jobs will accumulate in the printer's print queue, waiting to be printed. These print jobs grow stale as people give up on them ever being printed and instead reprint the document to some other printer. These stale jobs need to be removed from the print queue.
