Chapter 3. Printing and Setting Up Print... > Setting Up Printing on Your Computer...

Setting Up Printing on Your Computer

Before you can print, you must set up the process. Because Windows NT computers usually connect to a local area network, printing from Windows NT may mean printing to a local printer, printing to a printer attached to another computer, or printing to anetwork-connected printer. The processes of setting up for each type of printing are slightly different. They all begin with the Add Printer Wizard in the Printers folder. The Add Printer Wizard walks you through the steps of defining a new printer.

Tip

In the following procedures, Windows NT may have to install a printer driver. Be prepared. Know the path where the Windows NT distribution files are located. They may be on floppy disks, a CD-ROM, or in a directory on a file server. If the files are on a file server, you may have to be logged on as an administrator to access them.
