Setting Access for Directories and Files

You can set access for directories and files by granting permissions to other users on the network. Permissions are authorizations attached to files and directories that limit user access and the tasks users can perform on the resource in question. A resource is any item—file, directory, printer, CD-ROM drive, and so on—shared over a network.

You can set access limits for directories and files using the standard directory and file permissions. Additionally, you can set special access permissions when necessary.
