Part VIII: Appendixes > Customizing How the Mouse Operates

Customizing How the Mouse Operates

Windows NT's mouse settings can help you tame the rodent and train it to do your bidding. To adjust the mouse settings, open the Control Panel window (click the Start button in the Taskbar, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel), and double-click the Mouse icon. This will open the Mouse Properties dialog box shown in Figure E.21.

Adjusting Button Behavior

The options on the Buttons tab enable you to adjust the button configuration and double-click speed. By default, the mouse is configured for use in your right hand. The left mouse button is the main button for clicking and dragging because it naturally falls under your index finger when you grasp the mouse with your right hand. However, you can select the Left-handed option to reverse the button assignments so that the right mouse button becomes the main button thus making it easier to use the mouse in your left hand.
