Lesson 17. Using the MS-DOS Prompt > Running Applications in the MS-DOS Prompt ...

Running Applications in the MS-DOS Prompt Window

You can run MS-DOS applications from the DOS prompt in a window or by restarting the computer in MS-DOS mode, as described earlier. To run a program from the command prompt, follow these steps:

1.
From the Desktop, open the Start menu; choose Programs and then choose the MS-DOS Prompt. The DOS prompt window appears.

2.
If necessary, use the cd command to change to the directory holding the program you want to start. For example, to change to the WordPerfect directory, you'd type cd\wp60 and press Enter.
