Scanning Your Disk

Windows includes a utility that enables you to scan a disk for errors and then fix those errors. You use ScanDisk as a Windows 95 replacement for the old check disk (CHKDSK) command you used in DOS. You can use ScanDisk on hard or floppy drives.

Errors normally take place, for example, when you exit Windows by shutting off the computer or pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del instead of shutting down properly.
