Viewing an Application's Screen

Depending on the application you open—whether it's a word processor, database, spreadsheet, or other program—the screen will include elements particular to the tasks and procedures used for that application. For example, the mouse may appear as an I-beam, an arrow, or a cross; the "document" area may appear as a blank sheet of paper or a table with many cells.

Most applications, however, display the following elements: Title bar, Menu bar, Toolbars, Ruler, Scroll bars, a Document area, and a Status bar. Figure 6.2 shows the screen you see when you open Microsoft Word.
