Sharing Files

You can select individual files on your computer and choose whether or not to share the files. You can also determine to what degree you want to share by setting file attributes. Attributes are file markers that indicate information about the file. You can assign the following attributes to a file:

  • Read-Only Enables others to view the file, but prevents them from changing the file's contents or saving it.

  • Hidden Hides the file so that it is not listed in the folder. However, you can still access it if you know it's there.

  • Archive Marks a file for backup.

  • System Indicates specific files that Windows NT and the computer need to run.

  • Compressed Marks files that Windows has shrunk (compressed files take up less space in your computer's memory).
