Troubleshooting Installation

You could run into a host of hardware or software problems during installation. These are just a few of the possibilities, along with some suggestions that might make for a smoother installation. As always, if you need more help, see your system administrator.

IRQ Conflicts

Interrupt conflicts are problems that occur when two hardware devices are trying to share the same IRQ settings. It is important to keep notes on the IRQ settings each component of your computer uses to ensure that you don't assign the same address to two devices. Generally, Windows NT Workstation Setup will suggest settings and identify conflicts. However, if a device does not seem to be working, you'll want to check your settings to make sure there are no conflicts. You can find out a hardware's settings by referring to that hardware's documentation.
