Lesson 9. Copying and Moving Information... > Moving Information Between Windows

Moving Information Between Windows

After you select text or graphics, the procedures for cutting and pasting are also the same in all Windows applications. To cut and paste information between windows of the same application or windows of different applications, follow these steps:

  1. Select the text or graphic to cut.

  2. Click the Cut button or choose Edit, Cut. Windows NT removes the selection from its original location and places it on the Clipboard.

  3. Click to position the insertion point to where you want to insert the selection. (You may need to open another application or document.)

  4. Click the Paste button or choose Edit, Paste. Windows copies the selection from the Clipboard to your document. (A copy remains on the Clipboard until you cut or copy something else.)
