Terminal Server Licensing

Running Terminal Services in Application Server mode requires activation of a Terminal Services Licensing Server. Terminal Services servers use one or more licensing servers to obtain and manager CALs for devices connecting to the Terminal Server. Retrieving an activation code from the Microsoft Clearing-house activates Terminal Services Licensing. The activation codes can be obtained via a direct Internet connection, WWW form, FAX, or telephone call.

An activated Terminal Services License server can manage four different types of licenses:
