Local Profiles

Three types of profiles are available to structure and standardize your desktops: local profiles, roaming profiles, and mandatory profiles. This chapter will delve into local profiles first because they are the building blocks for the other two types.

Profile generation occurs by default in Windows 2000, much as it did in previous versions of NT. However, there are some changes. One of the initial differences is the base location for the default profile. On a pristine install of Windows 2000, the structure shown in Figure 6.2.1 will exist on the installation drive.
