Part IX: Appendices > Designing Your Active Directory

Designing Your Active Directory

Although this appendix will highlight the most important factors in an Active Directory (AD) migration, it is by no means a complete discussion of the subject. Many of these topics deserve their own chapter in order to be thoroughly discussed. For a much more complete discussion of this subject, please read Planning for Windows 2000 (available from New Riders).

Before you begin a domain migration from Windows NT to AD, you have to know how your finished AD will be structured. Although people sometimes take vacations where they leave home without knowing exactly where they'll end up, an AD designed in such a manner will be anything but a vacation.
