Making Network Connections

Setting up your network is a two-step process. First, you must install the required hardware and drivers. Then, you use the Network Setup Wizard to configure the Windows networking components so that computers on the network can communicate with one another. In this section, I assume that you’re using a standard network adapter in each computer and hooking up the network through a hub or switch.

Tip

To set up any network components, you must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group. If you’re the owner of the computer, this should be no problem. If someone else set up your user account as limited, you’ll need to ask that person’s permission to proceed.
