Protect Yourself from Viruses

Some of the most widely distributed programs in the world can’t be found in any computer store. Unfortunately, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other hostile programs are ever-present on the Internet, and each year these nasty programs seem to get a little more dangerous and a lot craftier at attacking your computer.

Lingo

Viruses are programs that take over (or infect) other programs. Worms are viruses that spread from computer to computer, using e-mail messages or network connections. Trojan horses are programs that appear to be innocent but actually do something else, such as allow another person to take over your computer from across the Internet and use it to attack other computers, without your knowledge. Many widely distributed viruses in recent years have had all three of these characteristics.
