Organizing Your Images

As I noted in Chapter 9, “Making Windows Work Your Way,” the My Pictures folder is one of several system folders that Windows XP uses to store specific types of data files. Your digital camera automatically downloads its pictures into this location unless you specify otherwise, and if you have a photo-editing program, it probably defaults to this location as well when opening and saving files.

When you open the My Pictures folder in a Windows Explorer window, you’ll probably notice the Picture Tasks pane, shown below, right away. The list of options varies, depending on the current selection.
