Chapter 3. Installing, Uninstalling, and Running Programs

Chapter 3. Installing, Uninstalling, and Running Programs

Without software, Microsoft Windows would be pretty boring. Oh, sure, you’d still have Solitaire and Windows Media Player, so you could listen to your favorite CDs while avoiding work. But sooner or later you’ll run out of CDs, and how long can you play cards, really? Fortunately, you can choose from thousands of programs, from Microsoft and other companies, to give yourself something else to do with Windows. Conveniently, when you learn how to install one Windows program, you’ve pretty much mastered the process. In this chapter, I’ll show you how to add and remove programs, how to make it easier to start your favorite programs, and how to deal with programs that won’t run right.
