Chapter 7. E-Mail Made Easy > What to Do with File Attachments

What to Do with File Attachments

E-mail messages can consist of much more than words. You can attach one or more files to a message, and the recipient can save, view, or edit those files directly. File attachments represent a great way to exchange pictures, collaborate on work projects, and share information. Your biggest challenge in working with attachments is to avoid inadvertently transmitting viruses. (See the section “Protect Yourself from Viruses,” on page 182, for more information.) It’s also important to avoid overwhelming your ISP and message recipients by sending files that are too big.

Caution

Some ISPs have restrictions on the size and type of attachments on e-mail messages. If you regularly exchange file attachments with a friend or family member, both of you should check with your ISPs and find out if any restrictions might affect you.
