Connecting Video Cameras

Today, virtually every video camera that you can purchase includes a FireWire connection, which you may remember from Chapter 11, “Working with Displays and Peripheral Devices.” (FireWire is also known as iLink or IEEE 1394 in some product documentation, but they all work the same.)

As you learned in the previous chapter, you can also connect MPEG-4 devices to your Mac to import video using USB (not recommended for large amounts of video) or USB2. However, you cannot take advantage of some iMovie HD features, such as Magic iMovies and automatic scene separation.
