Basic Commands for Working with Files

As you work with the Mac OS X Finder, you get to know a sequence of mouse commands for working with the files and folders on your system. These same actions can be carried out from the command line very easily.

Basic Commands

Let's start with some of the basic commands for listing, moving, and copying files. Obviously, you can't do much with your files unless you can see them, so we start with the ls (or list) function.
