Activity Monitor

After looking at software updates and backing up data, we round out this system management discussion with a look at system resources. With the multitasking capabilities of Mac OS X, you may find it interesting to check what your system resources are being used for.

Activity Monitor, found in the Applications/Utilities folder, can illustrate system activity with simple graphs for CPU, System Memory, Disk Activity, Disk Usage, and Network activity. Figure 34.7 shows Activity Monitor at work.
