Summary

This chapter has examined the contents of the Utilities folder located inside the Applications folder. Several utilities can be used to monitor system functions, including the System Profiler. Others relate to networking options, such as the Airport Setup Assistant. A few are useful, targeted applications, such as Grab. There are also several applications used by your system for specific purposes, such as Installer and Keychain Access. For the most part, these applications are tucked away in the Utilities folder because the average user doesn't need to use them from day to day or can access them in some other way, but isn't it nice to know that all this stuff is there for a reason?
