Part: II Common Applications and Hardwar... > Working with Address Book, Keychain ...

Chapter 8. Working with Address Book, Keychain Access, iSync, and Ink

Chapter 6, “Using Calculator, Grapher, Preview, and TextEdit,” and Chapter 7, “Using QuickTime and DVD Player,” explored several basic applications that come with OS X. This chapter continues in that vein. However, the applications discussed here can be considered “helper” applications because they typically work with other applications rather than run on their own. Address Book and Keychain Access store information that other programs can access. iSync synchronizes information between your computer and other devices—for example, it can be used to synchronize your calendar between your iPod and your computer. Finally, Ink enables you to interact with your computer and applications by writing rather than typing; note, however, that it does require additional hardware to accomplish this.
