Sharing Your High-Speed Internet Connection

One of the main reasons for networking your PCs together is so that you can share a single communications line for the Internet. If you've upgraded to a cable or DSL modem (if you want to, see Chapter 44, “Upgrading Your Modem,” for details), either one is the ideal communications line to share across a small home network.

Because of the complexity and variety of home network configurations, many cable and DSL broadband providers do not support access over a home network.
