Why You Might Want to Install a Home Network

If you rummage through your basement or attic and dig out the old computer magazines and catalogs from the last few years, chances are you will find ads for several devices that allow you to share a printer between two or more PCs. Long before anyone gave any thought to setting up a home network, users were looking for ways to share peripherals, and the first peripheral they were likely to share was a printer.

Nowadays, printers may just be one item on a short list of shared peripheral devices and resources you want to make available to users on multiple PCs. in addition to printers, PC users are also inclined to share hard disks and other mass storage devices, modems or other communications devices, and files.
