Scripting Languages

In Hour 19, “Automating Tasks with AppleScript,” you learned about the AppleScript programming language. AppleScript is a native Macintosh technology that provides powerful control over user-level processes.

Administrators typically use scripting languages to help automate mundane system tasks. Surprisingly, you can create some pretty complex applications in a very short period of time with nothing more than Mac OS X and your choice of a GUI or command-line text editor.
