Q&A

Q1: What printers does Mac OS X support?
A1: Out of the box, Mac OS X 10.2 supports hundreds of PostScript printers and the most popular inkjet printers. I recommend contacting the printer manufacturer to make sure that drivers are available.
Q2: I don’t see any printers listed in the AppleTalk printer connection list, but I know there should be some. Where are they?
A2: Make sure that you’ve enabled AppleTalk before trying to connect to AppleTalk printers. Hour 13, “Using Network Sharing,” should help with this.
Q3: Why would I ever need Adobe Acrobat if Mac OS X can create PDFs?
A3: Although Mac OS X can create PDFs, it doesn’t support all the PDF editing features of Acrobat. It’s good in a pinch, but Acrobat is still a valuable product.
Q4: What is the best place to put font files?
A4: If you have a license for all users on your system to use the font, place them in /Library/Fonts; otherwise, place them in your personal Fonts folder.
