iMovie

In this half hour, we examine another piece of software bundled with Mac OS X: iMovie, a digital video editor. Although it’s amazingly simple to use, iMovie enables you to combine video clips, add sound effects and voiceovers, create title text, and export your final work into formats others can view.

The Supporting Technology

Until researching this hour’s lesson, I had never tried iMovie. Frankly, I expected it to be difficult to use and—considering the amount of data required for video images—very, very slow. Watching television commercials proclaiming the effortlessness of iMovie didn’t convince me otherwise. However, within minutes of using iMovie myself, I learned that it is neither difficult nor slow. And it’s as much fun as Apple’s marketing campaign would have us believe.
