Summary

This chapter discussed how to use Window Explorer to manage files and folders. Keep in mind that on the Start menu you will also find menu entries like My Documents, which simply brings up the Windows Explorer application with the Folders button selected so that you can choose from the tasks available to you. Security is an issue that becomes very important if you share files on a computer or a network, and in this chapter, you learned the basic mechanisms used for managing security. Once you grasp the fundamentals of managing files and folders, you will find the concept is employed in other parts of the operating system, such as in some administrative tools, along with other applications. However, as an old timer, I still recommend you become familiar with ways to perform the same or similar functions at the Command Prompt, which you can read about in Chapter 13.
