Summary

In this chapter you learned how to automate most of the process of installing Windows XP. By using an answer file you can supply answers to most of the prompts that the Setup program uses. You can also create multiple answer files if you have groups of users where each group needs to have their computer setup a little different from the other groups. The Windows Setup Manager Wizard can help you create the answer files that can be used by the Setup program (or by the Sysprep utility) so that you don't have to become intimately familiar with the hundreds of variables that can be used in an answer file. While the Syspart utility is usually needed only in a very large scale environment, it can be useful to ensure that you can clone a system that contains not just the Windows XP operating system, but also other applications that you need to install for a group of users.
