Chapter 17. Printing with Windows XP > Managing Printer Properties

Managing Printer Properties

Once you have created a printer, it will show up in the Printers and Faxes folder. From this folder, you can manage the properties of the printer. To do so, simply right-click on the printer icon and select Properties. Figure 17.11 shows the Properties sheet for a typical printer.

The General Tab

The first tab indicates the name of the printer, location, and comment that you have set up. You can change any of these fields by placing your cursor in the field you want to change and making any necessary edits. Under the Features section of the General tab, features specific for the printer are displayed. At the bottom are two buttons, Printing Preferences and Print Test Page. You already learned what Print Test Page does, but keep in mind that it is there in case you have problems with the printer in the future. If the test page won't print, then you can rule out a corrupted document as being the source of your problem.
