Chapter 15. Managing Local Users > Using Fast User Switching?

Using Fast User Switching?

Fast User Switching is a technique that you can use to quickly change from one user account on Windows XP computer to another, without first closing your applications and logging off the computer. True, you do use the log off feature, but you get to leave any applications that are executing in their current state; when you switch back, you can resume your work.

For example, suppose you are at home working on some business spreadsheet or a Word document, and your son wants to quickly use the computer to check his e-mail messages. You can use Fast User Switching to allow him to check e-mail, without disturbing the state of the programs you are running.
