Chapter 18. Managing Disks and Partitions > Using the Disk Management Utility

Using the Disk Management Utility

You can use Windows XP's Disk Management utility to manage disks, volumes, and partitions. To start the program, choose Start, Control Panel (in Category view, select Performance and Maintenance) and then from the next window, select Administrative Tools. Double-click on the icon for Computer Management in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

The utility divides computer management into System Tools, Storage, and Services and Applications. In the Storage area, double-click on Disk Management. Figure 18.1 shows the Computer Management utility with the Disk Management tool selected. In this example, a single hard drive (disk 0) is installed on the computer, along with two CD-ROM drives.
