Configuring the Transfer Call Protocol/Internet Protocol Connection

As you know, you can either configure a TCP/IP connection to use DHCP, which will automatically configure your computer's IP addressing when it boots (or to use APIPA), or you can enter static IP addressing information for the computer. Let's look at both of these options. To begin the process, bring up the Control Panel (see Figure 24.1). Select the category labeled Network and Internet Connections. This brings up the window shown in Figure 24.3. From this window, select Network Connections near the bottom right of the window.
